Nigeria hosts roundtable discussion on economic transformation

VIENNA, 28 November - Nigeria has hosted a roundtable discussion on ‘Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Diversification’ as part of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization’s (UNIDO) 17th General Conference.

The event provided an opportunity to present Nigeria’s efforts and experience in advancing economic competiveness, creating shared prosperity and safeguarding the environment, to high-level government officials, senior representatives of UN organizations and prominent leaders from the private sector, civil society and academia.

Roundtable panellists included the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in Vienna, Didier Lenoir; the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations in Vienna, Ambassador Vivian N.R. Okeke; the Executive Director and CEO of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Olusegun Awolowo; the CEO of Rhabe Ventures Limited, Abimbola Alawode; and the UNIDO Representative and Regional Director of the Regional Office Nigeria, Jean Bakole. The session was moderated by UNIDO Industrial Development Officer, Raymond Tavares.

In line with its mandate and the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 9, UNIDO supports efforts to diversify economic growth in Nigeria, through promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization and fostering innovation.
